Great news! Brisbane City Council is building a brand new off-leash dog park at West End — Riverside Lands Park. Construction starts 14 September 2026, expected completion 20 November 2026. This riverside location will become West End's favourite new dog spot.
What's new?
According to the official council announcement, the new park will include:
- Full fencing with dual-gate entry
- Signage and park furniture
- Dog water bowl and human bubbler
- Landscaping and shade trees
- Riverfront trail connection
2026: 160+ parks across Brisbane
Brisbane City Council now maintains over 160 off-leash dog areas. Beyond the classics like New Farm Park and South Bank Dog Park, several 2026 newcomers stand out:
Downfall Creek Dog Park (Geebung)
One of Brisbane's largest off-leash areas at 4 hectares, stretching from bushland to mangroves. Has a creek for water play. Went viral on social media in 2026.
Kedron Brook Dog Park (Grange)
Fast-growing north-side favourite. Open grassy areas with creek access. Dogs love running through the water in summer.
Sandgate Off-Leash Beach
For ocean adventures, Sandgate is Brisbane's longest off-leash foreshore zone. At low tide, dogs can run across ~1km of sand and mudflats.
Other 2026 park updates
Besides the West End park, Grey Gum Park (McDowall) is being upgraded — fence reconfiguration, new dual gate entry, new tap and turf, expected early October completion.
