Dogs are social animals. Daily care covers both physical and mental health.
Daily care
- Exercise: Small dogs 30 min+, medium 1 hour, large 1-2 hours. It's not just walking — sniffing and playing matter too.
- Water: Change water daily, keep bowls clean.
- Toilet routine: Consistency helps with training.
Weekly care
- Brushing: 1-3 times/week depending on coat
- Check ears and eyes
- Check paw pads for cracks or foreign objects
Monthly care
- Nail trim (usually every 4-6 weeks)
- Bath (not too frequent — every 2-4 weeks; over-bathing damages skin oils)
Brisbane tick warning: Paralysis ticks in summer are common in bushland. After every park visit, check the whole body — especially inside ears, between toes, under the belly. If you find a tick, remove it properly and observe your dog closely.
